    Hi folks,

It's the first of December and it's that time of year again. For the past number of years we have put a ban in place on threads looking for puppies in the run up to Christmas. This year we are extending the ban to all species. All threads looking for pets in the run up to Christmas will be locked or removed with repeat offenders being actioned. As always this thread will be left open for discussion. Feel free to post your thoughts on the topic.

    CB.

A Dublin animal charity recently came out saying they are over run with people dumping pets that are too old, or don't go with the furniture, (yes that was an excuse) and said that people do that so they can get a new baby pet for Christmas..

Never be surprised by what people do...

Is that the same rescue that had someone hand in a pup they no longer wanted and then ask to go look at the rescues dogs to pick a new one? The bloody neck on some people!

We felt really guilty getting Pippy a week before Christmas 3yrs ago, just that the breeder we use was breeding her dog for the last time and it just so happened to time them at 8wks old the week before christmas.

I think to be fair, sometimes as in your case, the whelping & wheening can take place in or around Xmas time. However it’s been my experience that reputable breeders specifically avoid Xmas whelps as they also have a welfare program for puppies that don’t get sold.

This thread is specifically to bring awareness about not using Boards to look for Xmas puppies.

My head is still reeling that people ask to rehome puppies or adults bc they don’t go with the furniture.

I’m looking for rabbits. Have been for 6 weeks. Got one in Thursday. Pure breed mini lop. Looking for another.

Good home. I know my ****.

It’s a pity that Boards can’t differentiate between good and bad owners regardless offvthr time of year.

Why should it be Boards responsibility? The onus is on people knowing the difference themselves.
