Deposit for renting a room ?

    Hi,

    As an owner - occupier , i am looking to rent out a bedroom in the house.

    What is the standard with the deposit / rent up front from the lodger ?

    I asked for 1 months rent as a deposit for my lodger. And a straightforward contract stating that the property must be respected and that the room must be returned to the clean state when finishing the period of stay. No issues from my lodger.

    One month deposit and first months rent.
    Paid on the first of every month so that you are paid in advance.
