    Hi guys

I'm looking to upgrade from my trusty 42" LG HD TV which has served me well for the past 6 years.

Will be used for Netflix, Yotube and Blu-ray through a PS3.

I'd love an LG OLED but the wife says no chance :(

Is it even worth looking for a 55" 4K TV if I've only been given a budget of €700-€800?

So far I was looking at the LG 630 or 670. Or the Samsung 6100/6120. Are these any good or any other recommendation with other brands? Some people say to stay away though from IPS displays as the blacks aren't great.

I should also say that I only have a 69cm wide unit for it to sit on so I can't have end legs, even though the centre stand models these days seem to be nearly as wide as the TV. Would prefer not to have to buy a VESA centre TV stand but will if I need to.

I'd love to add a soundbar to that but I'm guessing the soundbars for about €100 wouldn't be the best?

Apologies for all the questions but I'm a bit frazzled looking at all the websites.

    Thanks for your help.

    Pat

    Hi Pat.

Both the LG 630 and 670 have been very very popular and are great value for money televisions.
The 670 being the higher refresh rate.
The 630 has the feet at either end so it might rule it out.

The 50MU6100 is totally our of stock but the 50MU6120 is available as an in-store only collection and can not be shipped.
You could perhaps look at the 49Mu6400 which is priced at £529.00
    http://www.richersounds.ie/p-202612-ue49mu6400.aspx

If you moved to a 55" there is the 55MU6100 priced at £579.00
    http://www.richersounds.ie/p-202632-ue55mu6100.aspx

Soundbars around the £100 mark are ok for boosting your TV sound but there are much better and so many options at higher price points.

The Steljes ERATo has been popular as it is well priced, sounds spot on and is well spec'd. Coming in at £129.00

    Let me know your thoughts.

    Thanks Kenny for your reply.

I should say that if a TV is really good I can work around the feet at either end, using a VESA stand. I've seen them online and don't know if you sell them there?
It looks like only Sony and Panasonic do a reasonable size centre stand built in. All the others seem to have gone very wide lately and I have just 69cm to fit the stand onto.

Is there much difference in the picture quality between the LG 630 and 670? Or the Samsung 6100 and 6400?

How would an equivalent Sony or Panasonic compare to those?

    Thanks for your help anyway.

    Hi Pat,

many thanks for the posts - I really like the UJ630'S (as you may have seen from earlier threads :o)

Unfortunately the 55UJ670 is currently out of stock and there are only a handful expected in over the next few weeks and I don't have a firm ETA.

we can do the 55UJ630 with the Sanus VTVS1 B2 which is a centre stand Vesa pedestal - its a great unit as it includes an adjustable height stand as well so it great if you want to pop a soundbar or soundbase under your TV ;) :

We could do the LG 55UJ630 / Sanus VTVS1 B2 / Polk Signas Solo Soundbar which are retailing in the sale at €888 at a Boardie discount deal €799 including delivery:

    55UJ630 details:

Hope that's helpful & keep me posted if we can assist in any way,

    Hi John

Many thanks for the reply and your options.

Yes I noticed you have a fondness for the UJ630 :) Any particular reason you rate it so highly and prefer it over other TVs in the same or similar price range? Just curious really as you must be looking at a lot of TVs every day of the week.

That looks like a great Boardsie deal for all 3 things. I should have a decision made by tonight anyway unless you come back to me with an even better option in a 55". Do you take orders on a Saturday if I ring the store?

    Thanks again and chat soon.
