I have a crack in the weld between the centre Cat and the rear exhaust pipe of a july 2015 1 series bmw with 50000kms on the clock.
i think its out of the 2 year warranty, but i will be ringing bmw this morning to find out.
in the meantime, anyone know if this could be welded back together.

any recommendations for places in Cork City that would fix this?

3 year warranty on new BMW. 2 yrs on Premium selection used cars. In any event, I’d be looking for a repair to be done by BMW even if out of warranty by a couple months. Not acceptable for this to happen on such a new car.

2 years from when you bought it.

thats a weld failure & definetly a manufacturers defect, being it back to dealers you got it from

Its covered under manufacturer warranty, but they need to inspect it first before they will say its covered.

in case i caused the damage or the weld failed by itself.

just a pain in the arse to try to get it to the garage, time off work, another car . etc

it just needs a new cat or backbox, which ever is affect and thats only a 20min job to replace

its a welded in center section, including the cat.
it may take 20 minutes to do, but it will be a day or two to get the part i would say.

heres the part , first one on the list

Check the engine mountings are ok - too much movement will make bits of the pipe
