Have a 5 bay slatted shed with lye backs. At the minute I have double fluorescent tubes x 4 over the slats and 3 x 100w bulbs on a different circuit that covers the feed passage.

    Something like that then?

Also the shed is 45ft by 20ft, so how many of them would be needed to light up the shed?

No there not led's. They are original gas tubes.

Imo any lights installed should be accessible from the loader with a man basket/bucket.I have flourescents that are too high for a ladder and over cubicles so you would need a sky lift to change a bulb

LEDs are not a whole lot more expensive nowadays and should last a long time before needing to be changed.

3 or 6 depending on what its for. 3 is fine just for storage and etc. For ewe or cows after calving etc youd want 6

20 Watt LED floodlights. £14.50 each (Free Postage within UK then delivery by Parcel Motel for €3.95).

I'm using 4 to light a garage that's about 5.2m x 6.5m and it's BRIGHT. They are IP66 rated which is a level of waterproofing and better than the IP65 (dustproof only) of the tubes shown above...and they're also about a third the price.
I've been buying LED floods from this supplier in Birmingham, UK and I haven't had one fail yet so I'm happy to recommend them. Other than being a satisfied customer, I have no other connection with them.

I put up a 30W LED spot light in the yard today. Great light from it when the light is at your back, but blinds you if you have to face it. Ideally I think you have to have those LED types up as high as possible.

Yes but you need to disconnect or remove the ballast. Otherwise the led bulb will only flicker, no need for a starter either.

Have Denzo switch start ( have starter, rather than electronic start) in parlour with 13 years, never touched. Put same in shed for that reason. Electrician reckons more reliable than modern electronic start ( instant start with no starter) and the leds are not around that long either. Remember the cfl bulbs, supposed to last 10 years, most are gone, rubbish. Mind you if leaving a light on for long time hard to overlook leds. Got 12w small external led, great light, would take 83 hours to use one unit of electricity.
