Windscreen washer

    Hi there,

Hopefully this is the right place, but please let me know if not!

Very recently the windscreen washer in my car has stopped working (Hyundai i10, 2012). When I try to use it, it makes a noise (as normal!) but no water comes out. The bottle is full, and it just seems to be the front one that is not working. From Google, I see plenty about blocked nozzles etc. but I’m not at all car-savvy, and wouldn’t even know where to begin trying to remove them - they seem fairly stuck on! However, I’d much rather try to check this myself than pay, if it is a straightforward thing. Can anyone give any advice at all?

    Thanks!

Check under the bonnet it's quite likely the hose popped off the nozzle and is spraying water into the bay

Use a sewing needle or a safety pin to clean out the nozzle.

I had similar issue in my i40, i let it run dry and then filled it up with water, but nothing was coming out even though i could hear noise of the motor.
Had to take bumper off to get at pipe from tank, once i took pipe off the filter was full of gunk.
Just put it under tap and put everything back and no problems since.
Id say that the car was laid up for a few months and gunk just went to bottom of tank

They (needles /pins) snap with any sidewards pressure, be warned.

A sewing needle perhaps, but safety pins will bend.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I tried the pin, but no dice. A very nice chap in work tried to find the cause, but was unable to. I think it’s the garage for me. Thanks so much though!

Depending on car model you can remove the hose from the reservoir and simply blow into the jets with pressurised air (the kind you get in a garage) and blow back any gunk in the jets/hose.
This doesn't work if there is a filter along the line somewhere. I'm sure google will reveal if this is the case.
