I got rid of Sky TV and about to get limitless broadband. I intend getting Saorview (TV is not Saorview enabled) & FTA box - to replace Sky TV - and maybe an android box / fire TV box / Kodi / Dreambox / whatever (not too sure what this will bring). As a newbie to this technology can anyone advise what combie box to buy and what will an android box etc. provide. Also I would love to get worldwide radio stations. I'm honestly not sure if I'm doing the right thing so any help would be appreciated? Thanks

Yes, you are doing the right thing.

The satellite dish will get you the English free to air channels.

You will possibly need an aerial for the Saorview channels.

A big selection of combi set top boxes on the market.

I suggest using a known trusted supplier.

    Satellite.ie
    Freesat.ie
    Freetv.ie

    Powercity
(A good store, however won't have the same hands on knowledge as the above stores, as the above are specialised in this field)

An android box is a good choice also.

You can add lots of apps from Google Store, (Netflix, Amazon Prime, radio apps etc)

Lots of other app's available, however boards is not the place to discuss anything unlicensed.

Later you could also consider Now TV, however try the Combo and android first.

You can get a ferguson combo/android all in one, however, I don't know how well that receiver is working yet.

My tv is also old technology

I have a humax freesat hdr receiver

    Walker Combo

Android box with a wireless mouse, works well.

    Goodluck

Thanks for the most helpful and informative reply FRIENDO. I held onto Sky for this long because of the great Sky+ recording feature. I'm just wondering if an android box can record as easily as Sky+ or will I need a hard drive?
Would this https://www.geekbuying.com/item/-Official-International-Version--XIAOMI-Mi-Box-4K-H-265-Android-Box-371297.html?source=ShareAsale be a decent android box to buy?
    Thanks
