Hello I posted a thread last week about a 2010 Avensis. I have driven the Outlander and I'm smitten tbh. I will pull the trigger in the next two days, reviews are mostly positive and they seem reliable.
Any issues or concerns before I buy? I'm looking for Auto and like the space and comfort and my leisurely style of driving suits this vehicle. Am I mad?

No not at all if you like it and are happy with it go for it. I myself think they are underrated and are great value as well as classy with some style too.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

The only issue with them was the pricing they were saddled with in Ireland.

The UK (at least initially) got the PHEV for the same price as the diesel, here it was more than €10k more expensive.
Also the 0% BIK in the UK applied to the outlander, and as a result a lot of low mileage outlander PHEVs have been coming off lease in the UK.
That means you can pick up one for a song over there, and the VRT credit means minimal or even no VRT on import.

The one point I will make, though I don't want to sound unwelcoming to EV/PHEV ownership, is that PHEVs shouldn't use the rapid charger network.
An outlander (which is the only rapid-charging equipped PHEV on the market) is just blocking the charger for BEVs who charge faster and rely on the network.
More than a few rapid charging networks worldwide have banned the outlander, though ESB has not officially yet.
Fully entitled to use the 1500+ standard streetside chargepoints just not the 100 or so rapids. Just be aware that rapid charger use would likely be met with notes on the windshield and icy stares from BEV drivers.

Possibly best to ask this question in the Hybrid/Electric car forum
