I have an Ulster bank mortgage and heard from a friend with BOI that she fixed 80% of the mortgage and the other 20% is variable, so you can overpay. Does anyone know if this is possible with UB? Hers wasn't advertised with BOI either.

Also what are the penalties like for
Breaking a fixed term? Google throws up huge figures, but an AAM thread suggests this has changed since 2016 (I don't know why) and fairly small sums are being quoted
