Asking for higher wages in interview

    Hi,

I was head-hunted for a job and in the first phone interview I was asked my salary range. i was a little caught off guard and replied a number that was from my current salary to +5000.
Having been through several more interviews since and I am now at the final one, I understand more about the role and it is more demanding than I had previously anticipated.
Is it possible to increase your salary expectations at this stage?

Unless it comes up from them during the interview at this stage I would wait for them to make an offer, at which point if it's lower than you want start negotiating.

In the past I was asked for my salary expectations during the first interview and when they made the offer it was 5K more than I asked for, I guess I didn't ask for enough :), but my experience is probably the exception rather than the rule.

If you've gone through a long process then by all means tell them your expectations have changed based on the role. You can also say your employer knows about the interviews and made a counter offer, as someone who has done a lot of hiring im surprised at how often people undervalue themselves.
