    Hi,

I'm designing a musical instrument for college, and need to find a piece of gutter downspout (I think thats what its called). I've attached a link to a picture of what I need.

    https://www.riversidesheetmetal.net/gutters/downspouts/corrugated-square-white-aluminum-gutter-downspout-1_1080.jpg

I've looked online and to order a new piece I would have to buy a much longer length than I need. I really only need about 40-50 inches at most. I feel like this stuff gets thrown out all the time, is there a specific place that I could go that some place is just throwing this stuff out? Would be great if it was in the Galway or Limerick area, but will certainly travel if needed.
    Thanks!

That looks like the ubiquitous American metal downspout or downpipe as we generally call it. A lot of hardware stores sell downpipe as part of their guttering or roofing ranges but in Ireland it's nearly always square or round plastic, however you can buy galvanised steel (or aluminium) downpipes.

B&Q (Limerick) and Screwfix.ie would stock the plastic versions but for the metal versions you'll have to do a bit of searching, however, there is a old thread on it here: https://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2057144439

Lengths are normally several metres, so you can expect to have to buy more than you need.

You could also contact a local guttering company and explain your predicament, and I'd be surprised if they wouldn't cut off a small length for you.

some of the seamless gutters companies use downpipe like that or at least use to.
I would start with holdens or similar

Looks more like the kind of thing you'd see on industrial buildings, warehouses and the like rather than domestic buildings.

It's standard domestic down-pipe, but it's a kind that hasn't been widely used in about 30 years.

Off topic I know, but are you trying to create an instrument of the likes in the blue Man Group?

    Correct.
OP would need to contact some of the older seamless guttering companies in the local area.
