As to how many trasdespersons have a website, that's going to depend (among other things) on the trade, surely?

As to what it costs, acquiring a website address and a bit of server space to host it is cheap. Designing and maintaining a website costs as much as you you care to spend, and will partly depend on how functional you want the website to be.

Setting up a Facebook page advertising your trade may be a cheaper option. Not as professional sounding I know but better than not having a contact domain at all

Thanks but not sure will Facebook be an option as they own all your data. Plus all the privacy issues.

Any traders here that own a website, I would appreciate a ball park figure. For a website, I am in the building line.

Think up a domain name for your website, then go to this site www.letshost.ie, there is a facility to check if domain name is already taken. Check the hosting packages.

Go to this site https://www.duda.co/, you can cheaply and easily build your site.

Before you start, decide on how many pages you are going to have, what the content is likely to be and write out a few pages of text on paper. Search a few sites that provide your services, particularly US sites to get ideas.

Yes traders are super concerned of Facebook knowing their phone number/email address/ hours of work so that potential customers can contact you.

I find it infuriating that most trade people rely on back of the van advertising.

I personally would prefer my data being store on a web host where they don't share your details your like in music the food you searched for the list goes on. Personal conversations etc.

Facebook is for sharing with friends and for pleasure not for work. Would never get any work done on there chatting all day. lol

They have business pages for this very reason.

Also they only hold the private data that you give them. If you don’t have personal conversations there how can they hold that data?

Tbh your fears seem nothing more than poor tinfoil hat pub talk.

If I want a tradesperson nowadays I ask my friends or google. Where are my friends? twitter and Facebook. They’re not sitting at home reading the golden pages in the hope I send them a telegram asking for a recommendation.
