Well not much happened in FP1. A few spins but Romain Grosjean was the only one to touch the wall but very little damage done to his car so nothing needed to be changed and he went out again.
Vettel fastest then Lewis then Max then Kiimi then Bottas then Sergio best of the rest with the two Mclarens 7th and 8th. If they can do that or better in the race that will be good.
FP1 not the most representative season do as the next one more just used for getting the cars set up for the race and trying new parts on them for next year.

FP2 which is more relevant to the race had Hamilton fastest then Vettel then Danial Riccardo then Kimi then Valtari Bottas.

Max had spin and went off track but recovered well.

It was nothing too exciting a few spins and the odd lock up or going wide but nothing much really.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

Seems like there is not much between the Ferraris, Red Bulls and Mercs, could be a good last race of the season!

Very little in it. Ferrari are the ones who have not progressed as much as they should over the season do and Red Bull after having a bad start to the season have come on great and are now up there with Ferrari and close to Mercedes. Have to say Red Bull is probably the most improved team over the season considering how badly they started. Hopefully next year we will have at least six drivers battling at the front.

That was an interesting chat Lee has with George Russell. Got on the Mercedes young driver program after sending his CV to Toto in an email :D

He took a punt and it worked. Fair play to him.

I do like how Eddie Jordan will just ask the questions and the lads he's asking to questions to know they can't bull**** him.

    Mika getting the plugs in.

Great lap by Valtarri Bottas. He is still annoyed about not winning from pole at Brazil so is aiming to make up for it here.

    Peace and long life.

Is it just me that finds it annoying when Webber always calls him Voltteri?
Makes him sound like a Bond villain.

Anybody see the interview Ted Kravitz conducted with Hulk and Sainz? Absolutely painful for all involved and should Mark the end of Ted it was that bad. Lenny Kravitz would have done a better job

Great last lap overtaking from Leclerc in the GP2 race.

That finish on the line looked closer than Schumacher/Barrichello in the USGP in 2002

It was excellent stuff, been great racing in the series all year. Leclerc is the real deal, looking forward to seeing him on the F1 grid next year.

There was a little moment in the cool down room before the podium ceremony where Leclerc was asking about Norris and where he finished. That I found interesting, almost as if he thinks Norris could be his successor for next year...

Norris also did a decent job. Is definitely in the run for next year.

Just happened to read this as Mika started to do it again today ... :o

1-stop race, so hopefully there will be some action on the track.

edit: wonder what happened to Alain Prost's nose? If anyone was going to thump him, it would have been Senna years ago ...

Loved Danny Ric on the grid walk with DC & Webber. He's got so much genuine personality

Fair chance Honda will win today I think :)

Nice that channel 4 didn't go to ads just before the air display like they usually do

Right lets hope this race is a good race.

    Yes.

All fairly tame at the start. The biggest problem with F1 illustrated perfectly as the front 3 teams shoot off from the rest pretty handily on lap 1

5 second penalty for the Hulk.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,904 ✭✭✭✭skipper_G

Clear advantage for Hulk there, he would have been better off giving the place back immediately. Less time loss than a 5 second penalty

Massa and Alonso two F1 legends.

Ooh, someone in the Renault garage just got his P45 ...

Jesus, nobody from Renault actually went to put on the nut. After the Hulk's stop earlier it really looks like they're already in holiday mode.

That would have been a royal pain if Sainz had crashed in the tunnel. He did really well to keep it out of the wall, but that was a major cockup at the stop by Renault

Yeah how he kept the tyre still on in the tunnel was mighty going.

An awful race. Mercedes 20 seconds up the road from Ferrari is depressing looking forward to next year. New engine regs can't come soon enough.

I wonder if McLaren will have a ceremonial burning of their Honda power units when all of this is over

It will all end in tears for Massa. Literally. :)

Great to see Bottas get another win under his belt, aside from that this wasn't exactly an awe inspiring race. Long wait until next season now!

And so passes into retirement (again) Felipe Massa. Stay cool Felipe baby

Who does Massa think he is?!

He thinks he is retiring after 16 years in the sport and has followed instructions from the powers that be to park his car on the main straight after the race.

There's been a lot of casual disregard of Parc fermé rules since Liberty took over.

He thought the same last year. He should keep to himself.
