FAO fans of the greatest christmas/action movie ever made. Is this the first time it's been in Irish cinemas since its release?

I booked an entire row in the Mahon screening for myself and some friends earlier. My absolute favourite movie ever & one I watch every year (usually on christmas eve when I can). Cannot wait to see it on the big screen for the first time.

They're also showing some other christmas movies next month such as Home Alone & Gremlins, but who cares about that, it's melonfarming Die Hard!

I finally get to see Die hard in the cinema. Thanks OP. It says Die Hard came out in February (here I assume), upon checking it opened in the US during the summer. Odd, as always assumed it was a winter release.

The Lighthouse cinema in Smithfield put on a few showings every year on the run up the Christmas. Last year they also had a Nakotomi Plaza Christmas party before the movie with themed cocktails, photo booth etc. Looks like they're doing the same again this year:

I went last year, was good fun and great atmosphere (being able to bring beers in helps!)

I was at a screening (non party one) last year at the lighthouse which was totally spoiled by some drunken idiot shouting out in the middle of the entire film....so just a note of caution if you want to actually watch the film I would avoid.

Must have been unlucky, I'd have complained to staff, there was no such incidents at my showing. I find the lighthouse cinema, generally, is free of árseholes ruining films but obviously you get the odd undesirable every now and then everywhere.

I agree entirely in general, its my favourite cinema I am a member and go on average once a week. But they did nothing on this occasion despite multiple complaints by people in the screening, however the manager after I contacted her was very apologetic.

That's fair but I wouldn't let it put you off future screenings. We all had a great time at our screening and everyone was in great spirits and enjoyed the film without any interruptions. I went to a nearly empty screening of Rammstein Live before and while there were a couple of very annoying lads chatting throughout, the music was loud enough to drown them out for most of it but I wouldn't let it put me off going to other "event" screenings.

Is this being shown in all Omniplex cinemas or just a select few?

Balls anyway I was afraid of that. Nearest one to me showing it is an hour and a half away. Surely they could have had it in all Omniplex cinemas - I'd imagine it would do good business being an absolute classic and all

    Tonight was the night.

It was everything I hoped it would be. Die Hard on the big screen is glorious. Packed screening too for a Monday night showing of a 30 year old movie.

Similar vein, omniplex cinemas are showing Goodfellas on Dec 27th.

For anyone in Cork who missed it last night, the Triskel are showing it from the 21st-23rd.

Went to it there last year. Terrific fun seeing it with a crowd.
