    hi all
i am currently resident outside the EU. I am planning on returning home for christmas and will be traveling with christmas presents for family and friends (mostly perfume/aftershave,s). I know the allowance for goods brought from outside the EU is E430 but in the event i am stopped and questioned re the value of the goods will the customs accept the value that will be on my purchase receipt or will they assign there own value to the goods. I have tried to get the answer from the revenue website but this is proving less than straightforward.
    Thanks in advance..

They'll value it based on your receipts you provide as proof of purchase

There could still be duty to pay, obviously.

Note that if the perfumes have an alcohol content that there are specific allowances.
