Can anyone suggest a car to buy in the UK that I can sell on next year for what it cost me, including purchase price, VRT, travel etc.

It'll be driven about 6000km between now and next year, mostly urban miles but some motorway trips of 200km.

    Some conditions:
    • Must be automatic
    • 4 or 5 doors
    • An estate is preferable but not essential
    • Any fuel type.
    • Make/model not hugely important but must be a car that'll sell easily here.
As I'll be selling it privately next year it can't be too expensive, I don't think people are too comfortable buying privately for a lot of cash. Let's say a sale price here of about €12k but I'm open to correction on this point.

I just cannot see you buying a car in the UK and driving it for nearly free here for a year. The second hand market here is in a constant state of uncertainty because of cheaper UK imports as everyone and their uncle knows that there are cheaper cars to be had from the UK than buying here.

When next year roles around you will need to price your car aggressively against what it would cost to import the very same car from the UK at that time to have any chance of selling it. The days for buying cheap in the UK, owning it for 12 months and then selling it on at what it cost you are gone now from what I can see.
