    Hi there,

I've just noticed that I can't alter any of the vent directional settings on the car. Things have stuck on dash side vents only. It wouldn't worry me bar for the fact that windscreen demisting isn't operable and with cold weather, I'm starting to need it.

The fan is working okay and all the buttons are lighting up as usual when pressed. Just no actual activity from the vent directional flaps in response to the button pressing.

I checked the fuses and popped the control unit out to see if a plug had fallen out the back of it but nothing amiss there.

    Any ideas?

The little actuators have a habit of burning out from what i've seen, Mine stopped working in my B5 so i took off the actuator and left the vent for the windscreen permanently open

I was thinking along those lines. But it's the fact that all have gone at the same time which has me suppose it's not an individual actuator.

As the other poster says the motors are prone to failing. The direction of the air flow is controlled by a single motor so that is most likely where your problem is.

We have a 151 B8.5 and they have failed too.

Bloody heck - my yoke cost me €3500 coming up to 6 years ago and has cost me a fuel pump, timing belt change and a set of tyres in the interim.

I'd be well pissed if a 151 was giving me this kind of trouble!

    Feck!

I was wondering what to do when the ol girl finally sits down. I like the car and so does the missus. Nice and comfortable with a little bit of oomph when you need it (it's a 1.8t).

Is the B7 model basically the same car in a different shell? I was thinking I'd simply shift up to that come the time.

Are they as reliable as the B6 does anyone know? I'm just not into paying much for my motoring.
