Inheritance - house

    Hi,

Just wondering if anyone on here has any knowledge on the following.

Was recently left a house as part of my parents will. I have my own home so I wasn't living in it and recently my brother fell on hard times so I allowed him and his family to live in it rent free.

They have since both got jobs and have a good income. I don't want rent as it was our parents house but recently they have started doing major renovations to the house. I'm just wondering do they have any legal right to the house as they have sunk money into it ?

I don't understand why they would do that if they weren't coming from some angle. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    1. Go to a solicitor

    2. Talk to your brother

    3. Go to a solicitor.

Did they ask you if they could renovate? I'd be having words with your brother asap and stop any work being continued while you consult your solicitor.

Without straying in to the forbidden area of legal advice, would the facts of this situation be an example of how an equitable interest could be created to the degree of any enhancements made ?
