Insuring an older car

Is it possible to get insurance on an older car (circa 1996) on a regular policy? I'm driving something relatively new at the moment but would prefer to drive around in a cheap yoke while I'm trying to save money for other expenses.

I'm with 123 at the moment and can get a quote for a car with a 1998 reg. When I asked what will happen next year when it comes for renewal, the agent didn't know what would happen but said they wouldn't insure a car over 20 years of age.

Is anyone running a daily on a <1997 reg and who are you insured with?!
