Flights to New York after Christmas

Hi, I'm looking to book 2 return flights to New York, preferably Newark, for the week after Christmas. The flights are very expensive and Skyscanner seems to be listing lots of travel booking sites like E-Travel and Tripsta.
Are these sites a bad idea? I've seen a few bad reports on boards and on Tripadvisor.
Also, I presume I need to book now rather that leaving it any longer. They hardly drop them if they don't sell? Any tips?

book direct with the airlines. Flights between Christmas and New Year's can be expensive. Try Aer Lingus.com or United.com to EWR, Delta, American Airlines or Aer Lingus to JFK.

    Consider American Airlines to Philadelphia.

The week after Christmas is always expensive. 2 weeks after would save you some €s.

Aer Lingus are having a Black Flyday sale today ... might be something suitable?
