    Hi,

Sorry if this has been asked before but how do you push back the pistons on rear discs that has electronic parking brakes?
I have seen vids on Youtube by connecting a diagnostic tool and getting the on-board computer to electronically wind them, is this the correct way or is there a manual way to wind back to motors?

If the motors are in the calipers then you must use a diagnostic tool to both rewind and then set up the proper gap once finished. There is no workaround unfortunately

You don't have to on the avensis. The motor is separate to the caliper. Just release the hand brake, twist in the piston and I think you have to hold the epb button for a certain amount of time to reset it.

I took off the back wheel last night and the EPB is on a cable system, put on the brake and it pulls the cable to squeeze the piston. Question is, when the piston is pushed back does the cable need to be adjusted to allow for the thickness of the new disc and pads?

No you dont have to adjust the cable.A Toyota Mechanic told me to leave the ignition on when doing the rear brakes.I dont know why but its something to do with resetting of EPB.
