I'd chance the Tanix, but bad experience with Rockchip device before.

Only AU/US plugs available on the 3GB Box, good deal though

The Rockchips that fell between the RK3306 and this were not great, but these ones are a massive improvement. Enuough to cause Amlogic to mimic them with the S905 X/W/D

You must use the codes to get the price down

    Z69 3GB 32GB Amlogic S905X - €29.43 - Code BGFriBox30

Steer clear of the z69 3gb/32gb. It's a piece of junk. Painfully laggy. Reports from knowledgeable folks suggest that the s905 with 64bit architecture combined with Android 7.1.2 gives a very poor result. Plenty of people with same issues. I got one in August from GB and never used it. Only got around to contacting them this week and they sent me a link to a FW update but cant get it to boot into recovery. Had to open up the unit as the MSD port was misaligned so the MSD card just fell into the inner casing. Plenty of better boxes out there. The x96 mini 2gb/16gb is far better.

Also ,I'd avoid any of the 1gb/8gb offerings these days. Stick with a proven 2gb/16gb unit.

Folks, please save your money and don't touch those pieces of junk with a bargepole!! Plenty of decent android boxes out there, just spend a few quid on a proper one that will actually work well and last you for years.

Do your research and know exactly what you are buying - will save you time, money, patience and a whole lot of frustration.....

Wonder would they fare a bit better if you flashed Libreelec?
1gb ram on that Nexbox though:P

What's Linux support like on Rockchip? I've bought a S905x based box solely for flashing Linux on so I can run a simple NAS. Looking at another for messing about with. These boxes are cheaper than raspberry pi / banana pi but come with a case and psu.

The A95x is fine for light use, bedroom or kids box (plonk them in front of TV :) ) It will start to get sluggish after a few months of mid to heavy use.

The Tanix is a decent box, i have one, flashed it and put back on stock updated and it is fine (the stock it will come with). Runs without any issues. Ordered another.

The 3GB Z69 suffers from Overheating, as their heatsinks were not installed correctly. They require thermal paste and maybe a better heatsink. Not hard to do at all. But if you do not fancy it, best to stay away, as it also may require flashing a better Rom.

No official LibreElec build for RK3229, and may not be as the devs are working on Leia now and unlikely to start looking there. Some people had success with the Asus Tinker board for the RK3288.

I think he’s saying you knocked this BA (totally agree with what you said actually) without providing at least a link to alternative(s)

    Buy cheap buy twice.

If the software on these doesn't break your heart the remote will. The cheap android boxes aren't worth the hassle at all.

Just invest in a decent official one like a Mi Box or Shield.

I knocked the BA because the boxes are a waste of time and money. If people want a decent alternative, there's plenty of options out there. You don't have to look very hard... ;)

+1. Couldn't agree more! Except my recommendations would be the Minix U-9 or the Shield.

    The A95X is €14.20 and the TX2 is €17.90.
A new remote that you can use with all future boxes and PC's is around €10.
    Software is repairable.
In the case of both these boxes specifically, the software is already decent. The Remote works, but they are direct so require the user to point directly at the device.

Both boxes are sold out, but it should be mentioned that if somebody is not seeking 4K netflix, then these boxes are suitable and more than capable.
