Sending debit card while abroad

I am currently living in China.  My debit card PIN was blocked. AIB told me to go to an ATM to fix this, however, no ATM here will let me do so (suspected as much). My only option seems is to get a new card and PIN. No courier seems to allow debit cards to be sent and the package will be going through customs. There will be a security hold on the new card until it reaches me. My friend is coming to visit me here at the start of February so I was wondering should I maybe just wait for her to come and bring it. I get a scholarship every month which is enough to live off, so i should be able to survive until then. Has anyone had a similar experience? Is there any way I will be able to send the card?

As far as I know, you would also have to activate a new card by using that new card on an AIB ATM, so even if you find a way, ordering a new card to get to you may not work either. I may be completely wrong, but this is how I remember I had to activate my card in the past. Your friend may be your only option.

Should be fine- I used to live in BJ and friends got debit cards sent from Ireland when they were lost. And if you need to activate maybe get family/ a friend to do it in Ireland?

I've done similar in the past. Had the cards sent to my home address, got a family member run it through the ATM to activate it, and then had them sent via DHL to Asia. Have done it a few times now, and never had a problem.

The same thing happened me in the states in the summer, when I rang aib they said the same thing, tried atms all over the place was unable to reset, rang aib again they said it wasn't blocked and now working, if I recall the issue was to do with me trying to take out too much money in go but after the second call it worked fine. was raging at the time because I must have spent 3 hrs in New York trying to find a machine that could magically unblock my card..........if I were you id get back on to AIB

Did you just put the card in an envelope or how did you send it?

Pretty much. If I remember correctly, after activating it, my folks simply put the card back in the envelope from the bank, and sent it through DHL in one of those hard envelopes they use - the A4 sized ones that are made of cardboard and don't bend. I got it a few days later.
