    I hope someone can help.

I came out of a filling station yesterday and started the car. The steering was heavy so I stopped again and had a look for a fluid reservoir under the bonnet. But couldn't find one. After I started the engine again it was fine. I drove a half mile home but don't want to use it again till I find out what I should do. My mechanic is on holidays so I don't want to be annoying him.

    Thanks in advance.

    Very informative , thanks.

I did that shortly after my OP, went out with a flashlamp and found it in 30 seconds. It's not on level ground so I'll reverse out and check it in daylight.

I was hoping someone with knowledge of that particular car might have experienced it before and might know if it's a sign of worse to come.

Sorry if I didn't make that clearer.

    Thanks Biko.
I found the reservoir but hadn't a chance to check the level since. I'll have a look tomorrow and if it's not low on fluid I'll get it looked at. I drove it around the estate twice Saturday and it seemed fine but I don't want to take it on the open road till I know what caused it.

I had look in the user manual and it says "Electro Hydraulic steering".

The reservoir in Biko's link looked completely different but it is in the same place. So I guessed it was from an older model.

I checked the fluid today and it was fine.I texted my mechanic with a brief description of the problem and he called me back. He said it could be down to a bad alternator or battery. Then it dawned on me that I'd left my parking nights on Friday night . The battery was sluggish before it started and probably didn't get enough of a run to charge it. He said to bring it to him Thursday after letting it run for 10 mins. He'll check the alternator and battery and put it on the lift to look at the steering system. Might as well get the plugs and oil changed while I'm there.
