    was lookinv to get a 1.8 or 2.0 16v mk 2 golf but cant see many about. does anyone know where would be the best sites to look on

    They are quite old now so not many left on the roads. Your best bet is sign up to some owners club forums, etc.

    There was never a 2 litre 16v mk2, unless someone did an engine conversion. They are all 1.8's.

    As for places to find one.

    Here in Ireland join the autostadt.ie facebook marketplace and the forum itself.
    UK there are plenty on ebay and so on.

    Finding a good one can be a challenge, they are getting old now and good ones have gone up in value.

    What's your budget for a mk2 gti?

    yea i seen a few in england but was lookin to get 1 here if i could. cant see many about.was hoping to spend around 3k t 4k. or even a cheaper 1 that needed a bit of work.

    You're at the lower end of the price range unfortunately.
    They are 25+ years old now so budget for a complete refresh on all wear parts, brakes, bushings, bearings, belts and so on.
    Watch out for rust too, if you can find an original Irish car they usually have less rust.

    I have one myself and while it drives spot on now, everything needed to be replaced to get it to that stage.
