I doubt he'll have a slot for Keira or Dill, he made them, then they destroyed him.

I'm surprised Dil hasn't been snapped up by another broadcaster yet.

The graciousness of her departure was truly heroic.

The IT might hire her as they love the kind of crap she comes out with. Mind you even they may be wary of an ideological soulmate who refused to do her job until a much senior colleague was fired.

I hope he gets Mikey Graham back on to discuss his mad ramblings stateside. I'm sure he'd want to discuss the "coup d'etat" that was, but George will cut him off in case the liberals squash him again.

It'll probably be a boring rugby and current affairs show with a ball gag in George's mouth in case he's steps over the liberal line.

    Doomed to fail.

So he was the Obi Wan to their Darth Vader sort of thing?

If that's the case then you would have expected him to walk from NT.

He's still under contract with them, id say he'll be happy enough doing an hour a week desert island discs type show and still getting a full wage until his contract runs out.

Ah how i missed hearing about his faith as he grows older....
    His open mindedness...
His hilarious arrogance and banter with womenfolk...

So George is back on Saturdays 8-10 with 'Hook's Saturday Sit-in'. I am glad George is back on the air. I'm glad he was reprimanded for his comments too, but I'm happy it wasn't the end. I like the two female guests that he has had on in the last couple of weeks, (George has a new doctor friend!). I wonder are they a regular feature. Not so pleased that he has decided to stick with his confused, hypocritical and juvinelle fanboying of Trump but we'll live with it. I even missed Michael Graham's annoying contributions.

(PS maybe someone can rename the thread to the actual name of the show)

Spent about 45 mins listening to it from 9 am, blimey it's hard work. The chit-chat between himself and Michael Graham was utterly tedious. Two old blokes in the snug level.

Love the new show. It's basically just a condensed version of the Right Hook and High Noon.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,988 ✭✭✭constitutionus

    i was thinking just that.

its basicaly a "best of the right hook".

weirdly the whole thing could work out better for the man as he doesnt have to fill a week worths of shows.

the peice on etta james was great .

Yes, god forbid dissenting voices and difficult opinions be given any platform.

The extent to which censorship is celebrated in the West is terrifying- people applauding their own suppression.

Freedom of thought and expression is being ruthlessly stamped out and most of this fascism is coming from the Left: from ‘liberals’ (liberal in the sense the Democratic Republic of North Korea is democratic).

We’re in for a grim few decades in Europe- we’ve even seen the first rumblings in Ireland.

They should have given him Bobby Kerr's slot on Sunday mornings. That 8am slot is for rookies..

No point in George coming back. He has strongly held opinions and expressed them - well, that was before he was gagged. I'd have disagreed with him on 75% of his opinions but would have always supported his right to express them. The cut and thrust with texters to the show was always worth listening to and he took BS from nobody.

Now, with the fingers of all the usual suspects poised over their keyboards, he will be afraid to say anything that might "offend" so, for that reason, I'm out.

What are George's strongly held opinions? When was he gagged? He was removed from a lunchtime show and put on weekends. Definitely a demotion but not gagged or do you think dill from global village was gagged as she was completely removed from newstalk.

Georges strongly held opinions changed regularly according to what was popular at the time. He had no qualms about supporting hillary clinton in the past. He has flip flopped all over the shop about supporting Trump. George is more entertainer than Journalist. I enjoy listening to him but get weirded out when people take him at face value.

Listen to the defence of him from people like Pat Kenny, he is described as a controversialist, not someone of strong opinions. I dont even think he is against vaccines. Jesus, for a few weeks he was saying how great Thresa Msy was and how Ireland needed somone like her. George is wrong as often as he is right but I think people are forgiving of him as he has a grandfatherly quality

Quite but even when he was entertaining, he was provoking thought and opinions one way and another. That's why people tune in.

We like to hear a broadcaster who talks a bit like ordinary people and who is not guarding every phrase in case they upset some moralising keyboard warrior.
