    Hello
Soon have bought a telly from curry’s ,and I was told in the shop that all I need to do is to connect it to the dish to get 70 channels,as it has a digital tv tuner in it.so once I connected it to the old sky dish,tv doesn’t pick up anything..So before I go adjusting the dish, could someone please tell me if this tv should work with the dish?
    Thanks in advance.
That’s what’s said in description of telly
    “Irish Digital Ready tuner

Get access to more than 60 digital TV channels including 12 HD channels with an integrated Irish Digital Ready tuner. There are over 25 available radio stations too, so you can enjoy your favourite broadcasts directly on your TV.”

You'll need a Saorview dish or a decoder for the sky dish

    Thanks for a fast reply..
So this means that the old sky dish is no good?
And If I want to see any channels I need new areal?
I want the cheapest option to get free channels, that's why I bought this TV with digital tuner in it..So I thought I could watch free channels.
I don't really know much about these things,so any info/advice is highly appreciated

    It's this one
    JVC LT-32C461 32" LED TV - White
    Got it from currys

A google of that model number shows no mention of a built in satellite tuner so if they told you that it did then the television was mis-sold to you. You will need a set top box for satellite television.

You should be able to get Saorview with it and depending on your location you may be lucky enough to receive Freeview from the UK.

I see now..Thanks..I was wondering so, if I get a simple areal ,will I be able to see good few channels?Like 50 or so?

That statement best describes Freeview, the UK equivalent to Saorview, via an aerial pointing at a UK transmitter.

A TV with an integrated satellite tuner will have a screw-on F-connector at the rear of the TV, the push-in connector is for an aerial.

    Where are you located?

Use the Saorview coverage checker to find your recommended Saorview transmitter - https://www.saorview.ie/en/get/coverage

Limited number of channels available on Saorview - https://www.tvchannellists.com/List_of_channels_on_Saorview_(Ireland)

For Freeview reception you must be within range of a Freeview transmitter located in NI or Wales with an aerial pointing at that transmitter.

I am in county mayo, not far from ni boarder,I only have push in connection on TV.
In shop I was told that this is only good for Irish channels,as it doesn't have double receiver or something..
So I will probably have to buy an areal to see if it will pick up anything more than 8 channels..
    I hope it will :)

You won't get anything more than the Saorview lineup in any part of Mayo. If you want BBC, ITV, Sky News, etc. you'll need to get a sat dish and a sat box.

    As already posted, unlikely.

See this map for approximate coverage from NI transmitters in the Republic - https://ukfree.tv/maps/bbc/6

That Curry's IE website needs to edited.

It says exactly as you stated. Unfortunately its text for the UK!

You'll only get the Irish channels through the DVB-T tuner.

Sadly Currys do that all the time. Simply replacing the word Freeview with Saorview is totally misleading. Perhaps advertising standards should have a word with them.

Well I just had a look to see what else they claim. They've some right clowns editing their website.

You've got a range of Saorview channels readily available with the JVC LT-32C670 and its built-in Irish Digital Ready tuner.

With Saorview Play you can scroll right back through the TV guide to catch up on content from Netflix, ITV Hub, All 4 and ,. Built-in WiFi lets you access even more streaming content from Netflix (subscription sold separately), a range of apps and social media.

Saorview Play ! An imaginary service. ITV Hub All 4. WTF.

and back to the fantastic Saorview Service, what does that have, well its seems to be the model dependant. take the

This one has more imaginary channels than you can shake a stick at.

A built-in Irish Digital Ready tuner in the LT-32C473 means you'll be spoilt for choice with 15 HD digital channels, over 70 standard digital channels and a range of over 25 radio stations to pick from. And best of all, it won't cost you a penny in subscriptions.

Did you notice the number of TV stations went up as the models numbers went up !

Some of these TV's are only 720p. Nevermind that no Play service exists, and that the number of stations are a handful, and the 2 HD stations that broadcast are 1440x1080 wont cope very well on a 720p TV!

Its so comical, its hardly deliberate.

I see they no longer have a talk to presence on boards.ie anymore, so we cant reprimand them.:)

Probably reflects the number of channels carried on Freeview at the time the blurb was written for a particular model of TV, temporary muxes etc.

As I say, it looks like they literally did a find/replace for the word Freeview. What's worse is the store staff don't (seem to) know any better. Last time I got a TV there I was told "Oh yes it's suitable for Saorview". It was UK only so no LCN and the MHEG5 text didn't work.
