Wood burning, external air supply stove

    Hi,

We are looking for a freestanding wood burning stove with external air supply (non boiler) for our new build. We have a joule heat pump and the stove is just going to be used as a room heater for the open plan living room/dining room & kitchen.

Ideally we are looking for a modern looking stove with a nice glass front - we don't really like the old fashioned look.

Also budget wise, we don't want to break the bank. Would be looking in the region of 800-1300 euro.

    Does anyone have any recommendations?

Have a look at Henley ascot. Not very contemporary but not overly traditional. Small and neat. Stove hunting was a real pain. Best of luck

We went with this Henley stove: http://henleystoves.com/sherwood-8kw/
Bought it back in May but still not ready to install yet.

Engineers specced a 5kw but I thought the firebox was too small so went for the 8kw.

As the post above, we found stove hunting tough to get something small with external supply, that we liked the look of and within budget.

Check out the Burley range of dedicated Woodburning stoves.
I have mine on a stand. Looks great on its own without surround fireplace, only hearth underneath.

Heta and spartherm spring to mind from research I did before

I'd look at some of the Scandinavian ones for the best combination of modern looks and good quality/engineering.

If you want to stay more local, perhaps the Waterford Stanley Reginald or Lismore would fit the bill, although for a single room, their output might be too high??
