Septic tank 0.1 acre

Hi all, looking at buying a small cottage on 0.1 acres. It has a septic tank on the land. The structural surveyor has done up the report and concluded that the septic tank is not the required distance from the house. He has advised that this is because the area of ground is too small to comply with these regulations. He advised that it needs to be 7m from house and 3m from boundary - is this correct? I thought it was 10m from house? He did not press the issue, seems to think its all ok

I am now just wondering if this could be an issue if we were to apply for planning permission down the line?

Is there any alternatives we could look into, as the area of land is too small to comply with septic tank regulations?
