independent.ie and their "breaking news" airline stories.

Is anyone else getting tired of independent.ie and their "breaking news" airline stories.

So a vigilant airline pilot decides to abort a take-off or landing at an Irish airport - this becomes a "breaking news" story.

An airline crew abort a take-off because of technical concerns - this gets reported.

Flight diverts to another airport for safety reasons - this gets reported.

Does the Irish independent have a reporter at Dublin airport waiting to get cheap news stories? What the Irish Indpendent are really doing here is punishing safe airline pilots for the sake of cheap headlines. I cannot help but thing that some pilots and their airlines might be making less-than-safe decisions to avoid negative media coverage.

Do think that in the interest of public safety these sort of stories should be clamped down on?

It's filler news, cheap and easy and high impact as everyone reads about plane "disasters"

They might have an aerosexual reporter.
When I worked in the airport some staff were mad into aircraft ("aerosexuals").
They went abroad to other airports and wrote down the registration numbers of aircraft they saw.

Agreed. Theres no irish media which is unbiased (eg. RTE) or owned by non-dom tycoons (DOB)

I subscribe to the guardian app for a fiver a month

If you must read a paper:

Incognito window for the irish times

    Or

If you are really desperate, irish independent BUT use adblock so DOB can funnel away more money to Malta

The guardian is not unbiased, it's very left leaning. That said I don't think it's possible to be entirely unbiased.

True (Not far left enough for me granted) but at least its ownership is a trust and not some business man who isnt domiciled in the country
