Ebay Postage Ireland to UK

I am planning on selling my first item on ebay. The value is likely to be around €50 with a weight of 2kg.

I checked on the AnPost site & registered postage to the UK, where I am likely to sell, is €20 & €12 standard post. I originally bought the item in the UK from ebay & the postage was half this amount.

Do I need to send it registered as the cost is so high ? How do Irish ebayers manage to find buyers who are willing to pay so much for postage ?

You don't need sent it by registered post. The only thing is if a buyer opens a dispute against you you want be able to prove that you sent it.

Which is useless. You need proof of delivery in the event of any dispute. If you don't have this, then you lose the claim.

Up to you to decide whether or not to take the risk.

Posting from Ireland to the UK is far more expensive than the other way round. It's been like that for a long time, but getting worse every year.

Are you sure you have it priced right? 12/20 sounds cheap. parcel vs package, weight including actual packaging, not just item weight and a wild guess.

I have found it prohibitively expensive so have never considered selling from Ireland. There are services like parcel motel which might make it affordable, not sure about tracing though.

I remember getting box a washing machine could have fit in couriered from uk, think it was £6.50 standard and could have had up to 35kg in that box, it was ludicrously cheap, which then makes our services seem all that more crazy.
