Wipers acting strange in VW Polo

    Hi,

My mother has a 2006 VW Polo (Petrol 1.2 I believe).

Her wipers are acting very strange. Firstly she needs to turn the wipers up to full speed to get them started at all but they don't start for 3 to 8 minutes.
After they have started and "warmed up", she can reduce the speed to normal/slow.

What could that be? The local mechanic said something about a module but he said he really didn't know why it was being so erratic.

    Any insights?

Sounds like it could be a temperature related fault e.g. a faulty module or super stalk with a bad solder joint that is breaking or making contact depending on temperature. Pm me for info on a good automotive electrician.
