Need to sort out Xmas presents. 10 year old niece is getting a Switch.

We were thinking about getting our two kids (8 year old boy and 4 year old girl) two 2DS XLs.

They’re €150 at the minute in Argos. Just wondering though will they look crap next to a Switch or would two 3DS’ be a better option?

2DS:XL is an excellent, affordable gateway into Nintendo gaming.

They are a different device to the Switch, and no they won't look as good.

But you'll get two for less that the price of a Switch and the library of games is extensive and mostly at pocket money prices.

Also, new releases continue on the 3DS, and there's certainly more AAA games available on the 2DS:XL then anyone would be capable of playing.

With the 2DS:XL Amiibo support is baked in, and utilised in many titles, including Super Smash Bros and the Animal Crossing New Leaf game, both must haves.

Getting my eldest a 2dsxl. If the 4yr old has started school and is reading, 2 kids with Pokemon games, battling and trading, are more likely to make the switch kid jealous! Tamodachi Life (demo might be enough) Nintendogs and animal crossing are great options for younger kids but you might need to learn to play them yourself to get them started.
