I've just started running and want to incorporate weights into my fitness. I'm female, what's the best weight to begin with?

Are you looking to buy a set for training at home or are do you want to know what weights to use in a gym. What are you asking for?

Hi Ciaran, yeah to buy a set for home. Nothing major, just dumbbells.

Easiest thing to buy is a cast iron set in Argos with adjustable plates.

    Something like this

If you are new to weights it's probably more than you will need to start and it's easy enough to find larger plates that will fit on the bar later on to upgrade the set.

Don't go for vinyl weights as you will run out of space on the bar later on.

It's better to go with adjustable dumbbells than to get sets of different weight dumbbells because it's cheaper and it takes up less room. Also it's more flexible so you can set up a routine with different weights on different exercises.
