PAYE worker, Changed jobs, not on emergency tax, payroll company maintains all is correct and in line with what's on my Tax Cert. Revenue telling me the tax should be less, what do I do with it? I reckon Payroll company messed up but they think it's perfectly ok to leave someone with 25% salary and are not bothered 😕

Depends on timing but I can't see how 75% of your salary was deducted. Having zero credits, rate band, the highest rate of USC and PRSI would only take about 50%. Ask your payroll what figures they used.

Either payroll messed up or your prior employer messed up.

If your previous employer undertaxed you your new employer has to take the difference. Send your p45 and your payslip (redacted of personal information) and I will run a calculator over the figures.

My spreadsheet might be useful too: http://taxcalc.eu/monthlyss

As per above, either your previous employer or the payroll company likely made some pretty grotesque error.

    Sounds like a mistake.
But make sure it's not BIK on a very expensive health insurance policy.

very odd for payroll company not to notice it and at least flag it. When i worked in payroll and we say a large readjustment like that we spoke to the employer and gave one of two options an employee loan to cover the tax and paid back over next few payslips or we put the person on Week 1 basis and told them they would need to sort the difference out with Revenue in the new year
