Where can I get a Pumpkin?

As per the thread title, I'm trying to get my hands on a Pumpkin. Nothing nefarious and not up to the usual After Hours standards, but rather a genuine appeal for help. I promised my daughter that we would make a Pumpkin Pie (she is half American), and we gathered the ingredients. However, once we started using the Pumpkin for carving, it quickly became obvious that we could not use the same Pumpkin for the pie.

I've tried all the major supermarkets nearby, but they obviously don't have them in stock anymore. So, does anyone know where I can get a Pumpkin in North Dublin?

    Thanks.

Try the skip behind your local shop.

Isn't there a pumpkin farm in Kilkenny?
Edit; there is a few around and can be found on Google.

Lapis, I think I posted the same request on FB and a friend replied that they know the farmer and will ask. I was actually hoping for someone around the corner to say they had a spare one!

Fallon and Byrne on Exchequer Street might have canned pumpkin. The candy Lab in Temple Bar definitely had some. Aldi usually do it in the summer for 4th July and I tend to stock up.

Good luck, pumpkin pie is lovely.

Canned pumpkin would definitely do, thanks. Might even be better for the quality of the pie. I think I prefer using the full pumpkin this time though, as we're cooking together, if you get me. But that's great to know that you can it in cans. Pumpkin pie is gorgeous. It shouldn't make sense, but does taste great.

I'm not sure where you are but there some in Meath and Galway. I'd ask the local veg shops though as they might have some out back waiting for the pig men or the dump lol

Carving pumpkins are not for cooking so make sure you get the correct variety...

Reynoldstown Farm, just outside Balbriggan had a pumpkin patch for Halloween. Surely they would have some left.

Just heard that elsewhere, and it was something I hadn't considered. While pumpkin pie is a very popular dish in the States, I've never seen it here. Explained to my daughter, and she agreed that the canned variety is the way to go.

Can anyone confirm stock of canned pumpkin anywhere?

The candy shops in Dublin city (Templebar) have canned pumpkin pie for sure.

I was in one on Monday.

I bought my pumpkin shares in June and they have gone up and up since. I reckon they are going to peak sometime around January.

You might find one cheap in a supermarket buy one thing I do know is a few years ago I read the label on the pumpkin I was carving and it said it wasn't suitable for consumption.
Most people that I have heard of making pumpkin pie uses canned pumpkin!

I was looking for canned pumpkin myself and was told by a poster that their local Aldi had canned pumpkin. I didn't have any luck myself but you might get it in an Aldi near you?

Why wouldn’t it be  what if another customer removed the label and puts the pumpkin back and another customer buys it to eat? (Or the label simply falls off).
