Hi we owe the council over €6000 from a few years back .we paid about half at the time and ran out of money .they have been sending us letters to pay it within 24 months or if not have set out a budget plan for what we can afford and they want bank account statements savings records etc as extra documents if we can't pay it with 24m. My question is have they a right to see these personal documents? We are willing to pay a set amount each month. Was anyone on here had to deal with the same situation.Tia

They're trying to help you out by offering to spread the payments. Technically they can take you to court right now for the whole lot!

I'm pretty sure you do not have to give them these documents but I'm also pretty sure they don't have accept small spread out payments.

So it depends on the route you want to take.
