How to make jig for painting wooden lats

I'm making some wooden benches and have a lot of 4x2 wooden lats (1.5M) to paint.

I want to make 2 "jigs" - one for painting (single) and one for drying (many), as I want the process to be easily repeatable.

    Any ideas?

You could use "painter's pyramids". I have used pieces of ply or mdf with screws driven from the underside to support wood while painting but the sharp screw points can leave marks on the finish.
