    1. I have a private well but want to be connected to the public mains. Is this possible?

    You can apply for a new connection. The area engineer would then go out and assess the area. We would only know the proposed quote once the area engineer had made their assessment. Please allow 6-8 weeks for the process to be completed.

    If you have difficulties with completing the online application, you can also download the form and return it to us via email at newconnections@water.ie or post it to us at:
    Irish Water
    P.O. Box 860,
    South City Delivery Office,
    Cork City,
    Cork.

    Once the application is received, we will process your application which will be reviewed by our technical team for assessment and will then go through the costing process. When the calculations have been completed an Offer Letter will be issued to yourself, along with any specific terms and conditions. You would also be issued with an agreement letter, which needs to be signed and returned to us with the reference number provided.

    You can find more information on this here.

    2. There is a strange taste from my water. Can you help?

    If you PM your name, address and contact number, we will be able to look into this for you.

    3. When will my supply return?

    If you are affected by supply disruptions, we recommend you check our Service and Supply Page where we post any notice of supply disruptions.
    We also regularly tweet notices on our Twitter Page, @IWCare
    If you cannot find a notice for your area, please don’t hesitate to contact us here. If you PM the following details we can investigate this:

     - Name;
    - Address; and
    - Contact number

    4. I need to temporarily turn off my water from the mains. Is this possible?

    In order to turn off your supply from the public mains to your property, you can switch your supply off using the outside stop valve located in your meter box.
    Once the works are complete you can turn back on your supply, as the outside stop valve is on publicly accessible land.

    5. I spotted a burst water main. How can I report this?

    If you PM the following details, we will be able to investigate this.
    - Name;
    - The exact location; and
    - Contact number
