Kia Sportage - oil level light won't go out

    Hi,

I've 2011 1.7D Kia Sportage with 110k miles. A few days ago the oil level light came on, I dipped and it was low. Filled it up, but the light is staying on.

I've had my mechanic have a look and he thinks its the oil level sensor which costs nearly 700euro for OEM part

Just wondering if maybe something simple I'm missing like faulty hood sensor or will light go off after more miles?

No problems, enjoy Halloween. Piece of advice for you as I work in the motor trade; if you think you have a problem with your car, any car, please read the manual before going on the internet.

That cycling the ignition to reset may only apply to that model of that year. The lowly mechanic cant be expected to know the inside and out of every function of every model of every year of every brand!!

Well he/she should if they are to suggest a 700euro OEM part replacement on zero grounds other than a hunch.

He could have also read the manual.

Speaking as a mechanic who was in the same situation before.

That why independent garage are a waste of time and money when it comes to some problems
