See they've started to pay out. Why have they been paid directly to our facilities ? who in turn will pass on the payment to us. Why aren't they paid directly ? Just seems an odd and complicated way of doing things.

What did the vet charge the for the health plan for glas? I’m in both the sheep and cattle one and it was 300e. Did you actually get a plan at the end of it or was it just a box ticking exercise?

Was charged €120 for sheep only. Haven't seen any document other then when they called to do the plan, so could have been box ticking exercise.

KT Beef only, vet charged e100. Know of other vets charging a lot more whilst some vets would not touch the thing describing it as a load of bullology.

It was that indeed. We didn’t leave the house. Not faulting the vet, but it was a bit pointless. An informal chat would have been as good. 300e was a bit steep by the sounds of it so

The thing that bugged me was the vet coming out to the house probably so he could justify the high charge as in a call out charge. He could have done 16 half hour appointments in the surgery in one day at €30 a pop and he would have a tidy sum made for the day.

It took the guts of an hour in fairness to him. The computer system was down at the time too so he was well pissed off. But I know what your saying. I suppose the vet was thinking why should he not milk the whole thing abit too

No 2nd year meetings here yet. I think some left the group.

It's very inefficient really the way the payment is set up for this. Firstly from our point of view it takes 8 days (afaik) for a cheque to clear from a different bank. That's after you physically manage to get to your bank. If it was paid through agfood it would be in bank account straight away. It's real cap in hand stuff almost queuing up to get your money at end of meeting.

Advisor getting a big ball of money into their account doesn't suit either. Over 10k per group that isn't theirs. Then paying out by cheque towards end of year, u wouldn't know where you were with cash flow and if some cheques weren't cashed until new year there could be tax Implications.

Having our 3rd meeting tomorrow and getting paid for last year aswell.

Will have 3 meetings out of the way also this side of Christmas. We kind of pushed for that with our facilitator as it suited most lads to be doing them during the winter as spring and summer can be busy times.

I hear that you can go to 2 national events this year if you want instead. It was max of 1 last year. Anyone hear of any good ones coming up?

Lucky you. No sign of payment here yet and no sign of 2nd year meetings. Now is the time to get the meetings out of the way.

I foolishly thought that I was the beneficiary of this KT group scheme but no. Under EU Regulation 1305/2013 article 14 the KT facilitator is the beneficiary[FONT=Calibri, serif]. I looked that up and it's correct. It's therefore not possible for the government to pay the participant directly. Reading the terms and conditions of the scheme I found that the facilitator won't get paid until the participant signs the KT3 form confirming receipt of payment from the facilitator.

I was with Teagasc but left in the past year for a private guy and have not had any interaction with them this year apart from the group but Teagasc kept sending me invoices for €215 every month just to be a client and now they won't pay me the €750 unless I pay them the €215. If I did that and paid the vet his €170 that would leave me with €365 and Teagasc with €715. So it is true, the facilitator is the beneficiary, in law and in practice.
If the group were any good and I were learning something it would be easier to stomach that.

The only thing in my favour is that they won't get the €500 until I get the €750 so we either both get paid or none of us. It also says on KT3 that failure to pay over the full amount by the facilitator will be subject to penalty, sanction and participation in the programme may be revoked so they might be worried that if they don't pay me they might not get paid for other members either.

Teagasc appear to be pulling a stunt there. They are to b paid by the department only, not by you as a participant.

If you have not been paid for year 1, you should write a letter or email (DO NOT PHONE as no paper trail) your facilitator asking for payment as you feel you have satisified all criteria under t&c's of scheme. Perhaps mention that you expect a reply within 10 working days or you will be contacting the KT office in DAFM questioning your situation.

No harm lighting a fire under them. Keep it factual and don't get personal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 174 ✭✭amens

I think the fire is already under them as I've continued reading the terms and conditions. The facilitator has 25 days to pay the participant and upload the form signed by the participant confirming receipt of the money. If the facilitator doesn't do this there is a 1% penalty per working day per participant for the facilitator.

For KT groups, the animal health plans produced in year 1 have to updated in year 2 & 3. And yes the vets have to do this. More mula removed from the payments.

    Where did you hear that?

Even at €650 its the handiest money we'll ever get

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 939 ✭✭✭Aravo

750 minus vet fees minus icbf subscription e60. You would be doing well to come away with e540 per year. God help those signed up for both. Which would then be 375 minus vet fees. The facilitator is getting the handy money not the participant. Facilitator stated that health plans to be updated in yr 2 & 3. Lots of unhappy faces when it was announced.

I think the only agreed adjustments is that 2 kt approved meetings are now allowed. It was previously just 1 kt event. So that may be a help for some, depending where kt events take place.

Has everyone in the Beef KT got paid by now for year 1?
No sign of mine yet even though I gave my bank details to Facilitator weeks ago and signed form :(

Yeah a lad in the office mumbled something about Dept. not having paid out all the money yet but he'd see what he could do for me

I'm still waiting on payment. Facilitator said our group had been picked for audit but this is getting ridiculous. Looked in Agfood too in hopes of seeing GLAS payment as it arrived over New Year's last year - sigh!
