Is there anything special about extractor ducting or would any 150mm rigid duct be sufficient? Some manufactory sell ducting kits but in not sure if it is required?
    Thanks

Make sure it's fully insulated where it passes through space outside the thermal envelope.

Where is the thermal envelope? Do you mean outside the room?

    How should I insulate?

Thanks for the help, by the way.

    1. A building thermal envelope is the physical separator between the conditioned and unconditioned environment of a building including the resistance to air and heat transfer. So, for example, if the duct runs through a cold attic space (i.e. outside the thermal envelope) then it needs to be insulated. If it isn't then condensation will form in the ducting which can cause any number of issues.
    2. Depending on the situation there are many ways of achieving this but it generally involves wrapping the duct with insulation. Google "ventilation ducting insulation" perhaps.
