    Today's indo
    https://www.independent.ie/irish-news/undercover-legal-consultation-even-if-your-claim-is-fraudulent-they-dont-go-after-you-for-costs-35597370.html

And that's the tip of the iceberg.

Why is there not an independent disciplinary system for the legal profession?

Why is there no ombudsman for the legal profession that ordinary people can go to with complaints of incompetence?

Should you dare to question a barrister, you will have defamation papers served on you, thus it's a closed shop that in many instances scams the public.

There are many good people in it too and many of them are equally unable to commence action against the substantial minority who scam the system and scam their clients.

Hi there is in theory a complaints structure for reporting a solicitor but anybody who has actually used it would agree it is only a box ticking exercise self-regulation is no regulation

The government spent the full last term bringing in a new legal regulator authority they actually done the launch and  past the final bill on this in 2015 and it is still not up and running self-regulation is no regulation

I for one and in my own opinion would like an independent body or particular board that complaints can be made to regarding judges, their decisions and interactions with people in their courts.

I understand there is an appeals process for decisions but this would be seperate and could be found to catch certain judges making off the walls orders (and there have been quite a few over the years) and hold them accountable.

Examples of hich would be orders of maintenance to be paid by fathers that unsustainable and the no stay in the event of appeal process.
Judges with outdated views on sexism and things like grabbing a person not defined as sexual harassment.

I'd also think it could be beneficial to see what judges at district level and above who's orders have been appealed and turned over at a higher court and maybe then the" frequent flyers" (for a lack of a better word) could be kept in check

Even the troika who the government bent over backwards for couldn't tackle the legal sector. http://www.independent.ie/business/irish/lawyers-win-again-as-troika-admits-defeat-31221017.html

There are fairly robust procedures in place for reporting and striking off lawyers.

There's a list of practicioneers disciplined in the Gazette every month including solicitors who have been struck off.

But, dont let the facts get in the way of a good Kill the Pig rant.
All at once, Robert was screaming and struggling with the strength of frenzy. Jack had him by the hair and was brandishing his knife. Behind him was Roger, fighting to get close. The chant rose ritually, as at the last moment of a dance or a hunt.

"Kill the pig! Cut his throat! Kill the pig! Bash him in!"

Ralph too was fighting to get near, to get a handful of that brown, vulnerable flesh. The desire to squeeze and hurt was over-mastering.
