Any chance of a link as to what the hell you're referring to. I mean, I wanna get outraged and all but I dunno what I'm supposed to be angry at.

There was a thread on the Cof I church. This is equally despicable. Pathetic cretins should have been drowned at birth in both cases.

Could be worse, could be visigoths.

Haven't seen that thread, no relevant results for church / vandals / galway / errislannan in the search machine.

Just seemed odd that there wasn't much about it:

When did this happen? Last night?

    Any links?

Would that get more of a reaction on here?
Haven't seen anything about the Church of Ireland in Errislannan, on here.

"Why isn't everyone talking about something I can't even be bothered posting a link to?"

    "Also something, something Muslims!"

Oh yeh? Whats odd about it? Happens all the time up north and no one says a word.

You are telling us nothing that we all haven't already read.

It got a substantial slot on the six one news. I'm not sure how much more coverage it could get? Not many buildings vandalised in the last year have made the six one news I would imagine.

Ah so no mosque was destroyed but a COI was. Then why not start your thread with that topic

    Spot on I suspect.

I think he’s making a good point badly. Fact is a minority religion had a place of worship destroyed by sectarian vandals (or possibly general atheists) and very little scandal at all.

Because it didn't happen up north?
Is it not worth discussing, the relative silence on here about it seems odd.

When did it happen? Post your links to this latest attack on whatever we need to be outraged about.

I'm making a good point very effectively - there would have been a volcano of outrage if a mosque had been done over... but sure it's just the prods... meh.

I know it's not exactly kristallnacht but surely this is something worth commenting on at the very least?

Because it's Protestants, the enemy of the Gaels. That is what we are told.

Why can't you just comment on it then? Why do you have to drag Muslims into the issue? Are you suggesting that Muslims were the ones to smash it up?

He's making the point that when the other place was done in (the windows) it was all over the news, outrage everywhere and everyone was racist.

Now a COI was damaged worth 70 grand and not a peep out of anyone really.

Of course I'm not suggesting anything of the sort, I didn't 'drag muslims into it' I just used a clickbaity title to compare the reaction.

It's in the national media, its been on the radio and we could be talking about it here if there wasn't such a ham-fisted attempt to somehow conflate the issue with muslims.

Of course you did. You made the issue about muslims when it's nothing to do with them at all.

You clearly have no desire to actually discuss the church vandalism, hence the nonsense topic title, you just want to talk about people's reaction to muslims.

Just not as much as a smashed window in a mosque

I've more things to be worrying about than either so couldn't give a ****e myself, There will always be scum that do this.

Not Roman Catholic, but Catholic nonetheless.

Or Catholics. Could equally have been Catholics. Or even Protestants fed up of going to church.

Galway church 'completely desecrated' smashed up & desyroyed by vandals . . . .

The Church of Ireland building on the remote Errislannan peninsula in Connemara, which is mainly used during the summer months, was subjected to a calculated attack, said Canon Stan Evans, who is charge of the parishes of Errislannan, Clifden, Roundstone and Moyard.

Canon Evans said the interior of the Holy Trinity Church had been ruined, with windows smashed, electrics ripped out of the walls, and the pulpit, pews and organ all destroyed.

I've no wish to upset you OP but if you don't explain yourself a bit more clearly it's pretty much stalemate.
There's only so much cognitive function to go around before lunch on a Saturday.

That’s really scumbag behaviour and surprising to be honest, you’d hope it was just teenagers being dickhead teenagers and not that there’s any sectarian element to it.

Its a serious amount of vandalism all right, up to €70,000 worth according to reports.
    https://www.irishtimes.com/news/crime-and-law/galway-church-completely-desecrated-by-vandals-1.3270207?mode=sample&auth-failed=1&pw-origin=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.irishtimes.com%2Fnews%2Fcrime-and-law%2Fgalway-church-completely-desecrated-by-vandals-1.3270207

I cannot recall vandals doing €70,000 worth of damage to a building or community before. In some cities you expect some vandalism but in the remote country? Very sad.

It was a thorough ransacking but didn't see how it was desecrated.
Schools here suffered a spate of ransackings too. I don't know what motivates people...

Desecration is when something considered holy or sacred ie. a grave or church is damaged.
It doesn't matter whether the perpetrator considers it holy or sacred or not.

desecrated isn't just damage in a permanent way.

wasn't a church desecrated a few years ago by some scumbag using the alter as a toilet
