    It would be very unusual for a claim, even just for material damage to your car, to be resolved so quickly after an incident. It takes months. Also, it's not clear from your post which insurance company is assessing the damage to your car. If it's your own insurance company, the solicitor wouldn't really have a role to communicate with them in the ordinary course of things. That would be something for you to follow up.

    That said, if you are unhappy with your solicitor, you can change solicitors at any time. Solicitors are obliged to notify you in advance of fees that may arise in your case.Your first solicitor may insist on being paid before releasing your file to your new solicitor. If things are still at a relatively early stage, your new solicitor may not need your file. If they do need it, the old solicitor may accept an undertaking from your new solicitor to pay any fees owing on the conclusion of your case.
