taking up sporadic employment while signing on for credits

    Hi all ye wise ones....
Long story but, here goes...... My partner is on Illness Benefit, and he is claiming for me, I am unemployed for a number of years, and I sign on for credits once a year. My situation is...

I have been offered a role with a company which will involve sporadic work - carrying out small jobs for them, for which I am NOT EMPLOYED by them, rather I would invoice them for work carried out, and I am then paid for it. The work will be no more than 3 days a month, some months there will be no work. However, I hope that after doing this for a while I will have a chance of gaining full time employment with them or with another company. I intend to use this role to gain experience, and build up contacts... so my question is...

How do I work this out in relation to my partner's claim; being honest I doubt if the pay will be great for me, but I can see it being a stepping stone to something better. The company isn't sure how it works either, can anyone advise me the correct way to proceed. Can I earn a certain amount of money without affecting my partner's claim, and what revenue impacts will it have. I have no problem paying my taxes, and I'm sure there are lots of people in this situation, and perhaps they can advise me how to proceed. The role is intended to be from November 2017 to February 2018. Thanks in advance.
