Are there any laws on cyber bullying in Ireland or laws based around bullying or harassment in general. What can be done where people are being severely harassed and bullied both online and IRL to the point where their mental health is severely affected. Are there any repercussions for the perpetrators of this.

Harrassment in general is covered by the Non Fatal Offences Against the Person Act 1997 - see the above post.

Currently there is no laws relating to cyberbullying per se, but the 1997 Act can be used to combat it in certain circumstances.

The Harassment, Harmful Communications and Related Offences Bill 2017 is aimed to specifically deal with cyberbullying amongst other things.

Just block the offenders or take a break from social media for a few weeks.

They will move on because that's what attention seeking trolls do.

Starve them of attention and they will find someone else to annoy.

There's currently a troll campaign against a certain radio dj that is transcending into libel. The particular troll is relentless in his "attacks" and what he posts and thinks he is untouchable as he is unemployed but I believe the dj is going to take action against them.

Will be interesting to see how is goes
