Underpayment taken twice

    Hi,

I recently filed for tax relief on pension contribution, which has gone through. However in 2015 I had an underpayment in tax, which has been deducted from my pension relief. It has also been deducted from my tax credits for this year.

Do I need to contact revenue to correct this or will it be detected that I have then overpaid this year and thus my credits will be increased next year to compensate?

    Thanks.

Generally, they first reduce the tax credits for the year coming (and potentially for other future years as well, depending on the amount)

If you put in a subsequent claim, it will reduce the liability, and the amount of tax credit reduction will be adjusted accordingly

Not so bad, thanks for the reply!
