Hi I am looking for a totally wireless CCTV system where the cameras are solar powered and transmit captured footage to a DVR located within the property. The only wires in the whole system would be the mains lead for the DVR. I would also want the facility of accessing the cameras through an Android or ios device (IP).
Does such a system exist and if so can someone point me in the right direction.

Forget about it. There isn't anything at all decent out there like that.

Forget about it. There isn't anything at all decent out there like that.

That's not quite true, its just what he wants to do will be ferociously expensive. It also doesn't come in kit form.

OP, to do what you want you'll need an IP camera:

    www . amazon . co . uk / Hikvision-Security-DS-2CD1021-Weatherproof-Ethernet / dp / B0733G9ZNC / ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1509320342&sr=8-3&keywords=ip+camera+hikvision

    €70

Two wireless links, one beside the camera and one on the building with the power supply:
    www . amazon . co. uk / TP-Link-CPE510-Outdoor-Centralized-Management / dp / B00N3SW7X4 / ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1509320442&sr=1-1&keywords=tp+link+outdoor+ap+5ghz
    €111.87 for the two

The above have a combined wattage of about 30W, so you'll need a battery able to run them for say 2 days without recharge. To prevent excessive discharge you'd need about 4 of these in parallel:
    https: // www . amazon . co. uk/Varta-5604080543132-Starter-Protective-Transportation-Protection / dp / B00RZ5490U / ref=sr_1_6?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1509322735&sr=1-6&keywords=car+battery
    €359.92 total

Given our weather and winter days with a max of 6hrs (actual shortest day is 7.5hrs but its good to be conservative), you would need a solar system like this:
    https :// www . amazon . co . uk / solar-Complete-Panel-Inverter-Photovoltaic / dp / B01CPXCS18 / ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1509321443&sr=1-2&keywords=500w+solar+panel+kit
    €956.23

With all that sorted at the remote location you'd then need to sort out the NVR, I'd suggest this:
    https: // www . amazon . co. uk / BW-Security-Surveillance-Recorder-Embedded /dp / B01302O1HC / ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1509323414&sr=8-3&keywords=mini+nvr+2
    €61.10

You'll need a HDD as well:
    https: // www. amazon . co. uk / Blue-Desktop-Hard-Disk-Drive / dp/ B0088PUEPK / ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1509321925&sr=8-1&keywords=1tb+hdd
    €47.50

And assuming you don't have internet at the location of the NVR you'll need a modem for remote access:
    https: // www. ebay. com / itm / Teltonika-RUT240-Mobile-4G-LTE-802-11n-M2M-Wireless-Router-EU-Version /172806725336?epid=10004137902&hash=item283c155ed8:g:dtkAAOSwAHBZ6fk5
    €124.10

And three are the only network in Ireland that allow you to opt out of carrier grade NAT allowing you to get your own public IP address. The above router allows you to set up dyndns for remote access.
    €10 for sim

Ass in another €10 for a couple of patch cables and maybe a powerstrip and you get a total of €1750 for the system. I've actually used most of this stuff mentioned above apart from the solar kit and its pretty good.

In terms of cost though its the solar panels and batteries are the killer though. If you did go with this, try and get everything at the remote location working on 12V to avoid needing to transform voltages and the like.

https: //www. batterystuff. com /kb / tools / solar-calculator. html This site allows you to size solar panels for different applications.

(Forgive the spaces in the links, I'm a new user)

Actually, OP there is a product out there that will do what you want. Granted its cheap Chinese stuff, but a lot of CCTV cameras and the like come from the same factories as the higher quality brands

    https : //www . alibaba.com / product-detail / Hot-3G-4G-IP-solar-power_60699580032.html?spm=a2700.details.maylikever.9.7df8e8c6swxx8W

A device like this doesn't need an NVR as it records internally.

I would have no problem using something like that in the application you need it for.

@Vronsky: Many thanks for taking the time and trouble in gathering the details that you provided in your post. It looks like my desired system will be excessively expensive to install. I did have a 4ch system at my previous address which was fully wired and this was OK since access to the attic space was easy. Now at me new address attic access is difficult. There are some interesting items on the alibaba site though if I wanted to scale down my requirements and go with a smaller system. Many thanks again.
