    Hi,

My wife was self employed until August 2016, since back in PAYE employment.
I have always been employed but need to complete a form 12 for CGT purposes but I have always completed them for Dividends etc.
During 2016 we got married and we are now jointly assessed - I have changed my wife's Income Tax return for jointly assessed. Is it possible for me to do my CGT returns on this also as a spouse or do I need to do a separate Form 12.

Do I then need to include her details again on the Form 12 if I need to complete this as we are jointly assessed?

    Thanks

I was going to ring the revenue to ask this but they are only open til 4

The year 2016 is the year of marriage. You are not jointly assessed for 2016. Your spouse should file her own form 11 for 2016 indicating her change of status to married and not include any of your income. You should file your 2016 form 12 again indicating your change of status and not including any of your spouse's income.

Request a year of marriage review after your returns have been filed.

For 2017 onwards it's one form 11 return filed under your spouse's PPS with all your combined income details.
